How They Get In: Infestations usually start with pets that have brought fleas indoors. The Cat Flea has a much wider range of hosts than most other flea species. This is an important factor to consider since homeowners without any pets may notice a problem when an infested wild animal such as stray cats and rodents occupy an attic or a crawl space. 

Problems They Pose: While keeping in mind that the diseases carried by fleas can affect both animals and humans, the most common and likely symptoms are the itching of the bite and secondary infection from lack of cleaning.
